Proposal Sheet

What is your idea?

My Idea for my personal project is to start raising awareness for global warming. Global warming is one of the biggest issues that the whole world faces. So what I am going to do is to design, create and sell handmade greeting cards made from recycled materials. To each card I will attach a small bag of seeds in which the buyer may plant. This initiative will not only raise awareness, but it will also encourage people to be more involved in saving our planet by planting the seeds and purchasing recyclable/environmentally friendly products. The profits from the sales will be given to one of Jordan’s non-profit organizations that is concerned with saving and preserving the environment. It will also be used to purchase some trees/plants that will be planned in a location by volunteers from the school.

What is the purpose of the project?

My project’s main goal is to help raise awareness about global warming and to actually do something about helping the environment. It is also helps a lot of people in many different ways. First it gets people more involved in what is going on, it is also community and service by planting seeds and by helping society fight global warming. The fact that I will be using recycled materials, namely recycled paper, means the I will be saving trees, energy and water.

What resources will you need?

I am going to need books about card making in order to get some inspiration and ideas. I am also going to need the internet to research more about global warming and to expand my knowledge about it. Lastly I am going to have to get the opinion of a professional. I also need to make a study about the most popular occasions the people celebrate in Jordan in order for me to create a popular line of greeting cards that will be marketable in Jordan.

What study skills (Approaches to Learning) will you have to use to complete this project (including the journal and the personal statement)? What other skills will you have to learn/develop so that you can complete the project?

The skills in which I am going to use to complete my project are to be organized and to be creative. I should also be risk taking and not to be afraid to do anything. As for the journal I should start getting into the habit of writing everything I do first thing I do it to make it easier for me to write it. One of the skills that I need to learn and develop is the process of creating handmade paper from recycled paper. I also need to learn how to market and advertise my products.

Which are of interaction will it focus on? Why is this area fundamental to your project?

My project will be focused on two of the interactions, environments and community and service. Environments plan is to develop student’s knowledge of them depending on the environment and allow their responsibility towards it and to build up a positive attitude towards it. As for community and service which helps the student to have a part in their community in which he or she lives in.

How will you explore the area of interaction within the project?

I am going to be helping the community as well as the environment. I am letting more students be involved with their community and environment.

How will you display your personal project at the personal project exhibition?

I am going to display my personal project using pictures of me and the volunteer students, and some examples of my cards. The cards will be layed out in a creative way on a table, ready to be sold alongside information about the benefiting organization. I am also going to be displaying my journal.
